To protect buyers and sellers, and to meet legal reporting rules, a few steps are needed before you can sell. They are only needed to sell: buying never requires them.

Who needs it

Anyone who wants to sell: listing an item at a fixed price, starting an auction, accepting an offer or sending a counter-offer. Until the steps are complete, the sell buttons are greyed out and a short message tells you what is missing, with a link to the right place in your Settings.

Step 1: Declare your age range

It is asked once, when you first sign in. See Confirm your age.

Step 2: Verify your identity

  1. Open your settings and go to the payments section: Settings > Payments
  2. Find the block about verifying your identity and click the button Authenticate
  3. Follow the instructions on screen, then follow your status in the same place.

Your verification status:

  • Not authenticated: the verification has not started yet.
  • Verification in progress: we are checking your information, usually in less than 24 hours. You get a notification as soon as it is done.
  • Profile authenticated: your identity is verified and you can list your items for sale.
  • Verification rejected: this is often caused by a photo that is too dark or an expired document. You can try again right away with the button Retry verification

The detailed identity verification process (accepted documents, how the check works, how long we keep the data) will be added to this page soon.

Step 3: Complete your tax self-certification

  1. Open your settings and go to the tax section: Settings > Tax Certification
  2. Choose the option that describes you: I am an individual, I am a business.
  3. Add your place of birth and every country where you are a tax resident, with your tax identification number (TIN) for each country.
  4. A business also gives its entity details. A passive entity (holding or wealth-management company) lists the individuals who own more than 25% of it.
  5. Tick the certification box, type your name to sign, and submit.

Why we ask: marketplaces must report some sales to tax authorities. Your self-certification tells us which country the information belongs to.

Step 4: Choose how you get paid

Connect Stripe or PayPal in your payment settings to receive your earnings: Settings > Payments
